AMC Announces 86,000 Spider-Man NFTs For Advance Bookings

AMC Theatres, a US theatre chain, has announced that it will offer NFTs in limited editions to the first 86,000 people who buy advance tickets for the opening day screening of “Spider-Man: There’s No Way Home.”

AMC’s First NFT Campaign

Advance bookings for the movie will open on November 29th and offer a special reward to certain individuals. As part of the joint promotion agreement between AMC Entertainment & Sony Pictures, members of the AMC Stubs Premiere & A-List as well as AMC Investor Connect will be able to purchase an advance ticket for the premiere and receive a limited-edition Spider-Man NT. AMC reports that more than 100 NFT designs were created in collaboration with Cub Studios. This campaign will mark the debut of major theatrical exhibitors in the NFT market. Entertainment brands are increasingly entering the NFT market.

Spider-Man NFTs for Early Birds

Customers who are eligible for an NFT will receive instructions on how to redeem the token via email on December 22. The last day to redeem the tokens is March 1, 2022. These NFTs are digital assets and will be registered on a blockchain. Additional information shows that these NFTs can be redeemed on a WAX-run dedicated carbon neutral site. The site’s core is built with a blockchain that has a low carbon footprint. This ensures that assets have minimal environmental impact.

Adam Aron, Chairman and CEO of AMC, spoke out about the offer.

AMC Theatres guests, as well as shareholders of AMC Entertainment, have been asking for AMC’s entry into the world NFTs. We couldn’t think of a better way to do so than to partner with Sony Pictures. This is particularly true in SPIDER-MAN : NO WAY HOME, which is the most anticipated movie of 2021. The incredibly talented artists at Cub Studios are creating over 100 unique NFTs that pay homage to the latest incarnation of the iconic and beloved Spider-Man franchise.

AMC And Cryptocurrencies

AMC has previously experimented with digital assets and cryptocurrency. A number of cryptocurrencies were already accepted by the theatre chain, including Bitcoin and Dogecoin. The entertainment conglomerate had announced earlier in November that it was considering adding Shiba Inu as a cryptocurrency to its acceptable list. It has also expressed its desire to create its own cryptocurrency.
