An All-Civilian Space X Mission Is Taking 51 NFTs To Space

At 8 p.m. eastern time, the Space X first launch was made. This marked the beginning of space tourism. 51 tokens were non-fungible, including the first song ever launched into space.

The launches NFT collection includes a never before released performance of Kings of Leons single “Time in Disguise”, which is the first NFT song ever to be played in orbit.

Inspiration4 will raise funds for St Judes Childrens Hospital. It also carries a scientific payload, which has yet to be disclosed. Jared Isaacman, who organized and oversaw the missions cost, is part of the civilian crew. Isaacman announced the competition and sweepstakes in February 2021. He stated that he had a dream to “send a message that inspiration could create a world full of infinite possibilities up in space, but most importantly, here on Earth.”

Together with the $100 million Isaacman pledged to the charity, the sweepstakes generated $13 million.

The mission was the first to be carried out without an astronaut, and its members include a former space camp counselor, data engineer, geoscientist, and science communication specialist. They also serve as ambassadors for the hospital, and are the first person to fly into space using a prosthesis.

The Mission 4 website described the cargo as being for crew necessities and scientific experiment. It also included NFTs.

“The crew will perform experiments to increase our understanding of the universe. Crew Dragons cargo weight of 365 lbs will be used for crew necessities as well as for scientific equipment that is dedicated to microgravity research and experimentation. Inspiration4 is dedicated to distributing the maximum mass possible towards this valuable research. This will allow access to space for innovative projects that otherwise would be unable to overcome the high barriers to traditional space-based research.

Elon Musk is Space Xs CEO. He is well-known for his support of NFTs and cryptocurrency. After the successful ocean landing, the auction for the NFTs aboard will close on September 17th.

Kings of Leon made a statement about the mission:

“We are honored to be part of this historic journey to raise money to support St. Jude and we send all our best to Inspiration4.”
