In October, the remake of 1984’s Dune will be theatrically released in the United States. This will be accompanied with the launch of an NFT collection in collaboration by iv gallery and Lineage Studios.
Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have launched a marketing campaign that includes the first NFT collection. It will be available on September 22nd. Then, there will be more drops leading up to the film’s premiere.
James Ngo, EVP Franchise Management for Legendary Entertainment, comments on the NFT Drop:
“This collection is a new direction for the NFT space. We are delighted to offer a new experience to the fandom using exclusive assets directly from the film. This allows fans to not only collect film memorabilia, but also immerse themselves in the Dune world.
The campaign promotes Dune, a non-fungible tokens community, to attract a younger audience. It also includes Dune’s NFT launch. This will undoubtedly expand on the sci-fi story of the adaptation.
Denis Villeneuve’s 1965 classic adaptation is expected to be a huge success, featuring big-name actors such as Zendaya and Timothee Chalamet. Legendary Pictures shared the preview of the NFT drop via Twitter. It features portraits from iconic Dune characters and includes Hans Zimmer’s score.
The space is growing in popularity as mainstream film and art ventures increasingly use blockchain technologies like NFTs. This makes it more appealing to a younger audience that may be already aware of the technology. The NFT market is still in its infancy and some experts argue that it is saturated. However, others see the potential for technological and creative advancements in the blockchain space.
